The Village of Unterasbach, Bavaria
Above is a photograph of the little village of Unterasbach, near Gunzenhausen. The Kipfmiller family originally lived near here and attended St. Michael Lutheran church. (The church can be seen on a hill in the upper left of the photograph.)
Today St. Michael Lutheran church remains a very small church with a few pews on the main floor and a wrap-around balcony. Size, however, is not the indicative of its importance or beauty. The altar and pulpit are beautifully decorated; a chandalier adorns the main sanctuary; and a musical and cultural heritage is very much in evidence in the stately pipe organ over the altar. The music program is enhanced by a brass choir of nearly 20 members, “Der Posaunenchor Unterasbach”
